Abstract
Organic halides undergo electrocatalytic reduction under the action of coor dinately unsaturated with respect to 2,2 ' -bipyridine (bipy) complexes Co( +1)bipy (at the first wave potentials) and coordinately saturated complexes Co(-1)bipy(2)(-) (at the second wave potentials). The logarithms of the ap parent rate constants logk(app) decrease with increasing difference in the reduction potentials of substrate and catalyst AE A-RX over a wide range of the motive forces of the process.
