Ej. Triplett, THE METHODS AND RESULTS OF AN HISTORICAL AND GEOLOGICAL RECORDS SEARCH ON THE CARONDELET-COKE-WORKS, ST-LOUIS, MISSOURI, ENVIRONMENTAL & ENGINEERING GEOSCIENCE, 3(1), 1997, pp. 13-19
A detailed records search was performed on the Carondelet Coke Works:
(1914-1987), St, Louis, Missouri, during the summer of 1995 to provide
a thorough historical and geological background summary for the site
area, This records search and review proved to be an extremely benefic
ial tool when assessing hazardous waste production, disposal practices
, and geological conditions. The study uncovered a history of on-site
pollution dating back to the mid-nineteenth century as well as polluti
on complaints and violations from the 1970s and 1980s, The geological
search revealed a complex site geology including fluvial, karstic, and
structural features, It may be possible to identify potential waste s
ources and migratory pathways and to plan for future investigations an
d remedial actions by utilizing the results of the records study.
