Abstract
Five new organotin xanthates with general formula R2Sn(S2COR ')(2) and R3Sn S2COR ' (R = Me and Ph and R ' = Me and CH2Ph) were prepared and characteri zed by elemental analyses, IR and NMR spectra. The crystal and molecular st ructure of was determined by X-ray diffraction. The compound Ph2Sn(S2COMe)( 2), M = 487.22 is triclinic, P1, with unit cell dimensions a = 9.0265(14) A ngstrom, b = 9.395(2) Angstrom , c = 11.989(2) Angstrom, alpha = 100.919(17 )degrees, beta = 96.55(2)degrees, gamma = 97.576 degrees. The tin atom is c oordinated by two asymmetrically chelating xanthate ligands [Sn-S(11) = 2.4 975(11)Angstrom, Sn-S(12) = 3.0404(12) Angstrom, Sn-S(21) = 2.4938(11)Angst rom, Sn-S(22) = 3.1266(12) Angstrom] and by two phenyl groups.
