Abstract
New hexa-coordinated low-spin d(5) binuclear ruthenium(III) complexes of th e type {[Ru(acac)(2)](2)L} (acac=acetylacetonate; L=dicarboxylate) have bee n synthesised from the reactions of [Ru(acac)(3)] with various dicarboxylic acids. IR spectra revealed chelate type of coordination for all the dicarb oxylato bridged complexes and these complexes were characterised by element al analyses, spectral (IR, electronic, EPR), magnetic moment and cyclic vol tammetry data. Some of the complexes have been tested for in vitro growth i nhibitory activity against the bacteria Escherichia coh, Bacillus sp. and p seudomonas sp.
