Abstract
Cr(III) and Mn(II) complexes of some oximes (H2L), 2-hydroxyacetophonone ox ime [haoH(2)], 2-hydroxynaptlialdehyde oxime [hnoH(2)] and salicylaldehyde oxime [salH(2)] have been synthesised and characterized by elemental analys is, magnetic moment, infrared, electronic and EPR spectral studies. The Mn( II) complexes, Mn(HL)(2), show a magnetic moment corresponding to three unp aired electrons and their electronic spectral bands are characteristic of t hat of square planar geometry. Whereas, the Cr(III) complexes, Cr(HL)(3), a lso show a magnetic moment corresponding to three unpaired electrons. The e lectronic and EPR spectral studies suggest an octahedral geometry for the C r(III) complexes.
