A new organometallic ligand derived from ferrocene, formyl-ferrocenyl-3-met
hoxy-2-naphthoylhydrazone, and its transition metal complexes have been syn
thesized and characterized with elemental analyses, IR, (1) H NMR, UV-Vis a
nd TG-DTA. The results indicate that the ligand changes from the ketone for
m to the enolic form when it coordinates to the metal ions, and the chelate
s are more thermostable than their ligand due to the formation of chelate r
ings.
