Abstract
A stone-like (plastic integranular) fracture is often recognized as a reason for rejection whereas toughness and plasticity of the material may be satisfactory. At room temperature, the forgings of 38KhN3MFA-Sh steel have the stone-like fracture while. at low temperatures, a clea vage fracture through coarse cementite plates that are contained in ba inite was observed. Both defects are of the same origin.
