Steady laminar boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a micropolar fluid
over a heated isothermal horizontal plate moving in a flowing stream. has b
een studied in this paper, The cases corresponding to the isothermal horizo
ntal plate moving in thc same (parallel) or in. the opposite (reverse) dire
ction to thp free stream are considered. Similarity and nonsimilarity equat
ions of six special systems arc reduced readily front universal formulation
. The governing momentum. angular momentum, and energy equations have been
solved numerically. The effects (if buoyancy and relative velocity or) the
flow and temperature fields including surface friction and heat transfer ra
te are presented for a plate moving in parallel or reversely to the free st
ream. It is observed that micropolar fluids display drag reduction when com
pared to Newtonian fluids.
