Ti. Barmina et al., POTENTIALITY OF APPLICATION OF GLOBULAR POWDER PARTICLES FROM VT6 TITANIUM-ALLOY IN MEDICINE FOR DESIGN OF JOINT ENDOPROSTHESES WITH POROUSCOATING, Russian metallurgy. Metally, (2), 1994, pp. 104-109
A coating with a through branched porosity could be obtained on sinter
ing workpieces of various shapes with globular powder particles 0.1 -
1.0 mm in diameter obtained from VT6 titanium alloy by a rotating-elec
trode plasma-spray method. The pores 0.125 - 0.400 mm in size could ex
tend into the coating at any predetermined depth beneath the surface.
A bone tissue could grow in the pores. Due to the globular shape of th
e powder particles, vessels do not get damaged and no unfavorable bend
ings of the vessels growing in the pores take place. On the base of th
e technology developed, design of endoprostheses of new generation is
targeted.
