This article summarizes the papers in this issue of AJSLP that report the r
esults of Phase I and Phase II clinical trials of Fast ForWord (FFW). Our p
rimary purpose is to integrate the findings of these studies as they relate
to the implications for future Phase III clinical trial studies. We discus
s the replication of earlier findings by independent researchers, the uniqu
eness of FFW, new findings from FFW with respect to literacy and interventi
on settings, and finally, the underlying theoretical framework of FFW.
