Abstract
It is demonstrated that standard concepts for optics like Fabry-Perot reson ances and antireflection coatings can be extended to ballistic electron tra nsport in semiconductor superlattices. The transmission through a superlatt ice miniband is increased by a factor of 2.4 if two further barriers are ad ded at both sides of the structure. The condition for Fabry-Perot resonance s for Bloch states in finite periodic potentials is derived and experimenta l evidence for their existence is obtained in transport experiments.
