Measurements of the electron coefficients of Al2O3 surfaces bombarded
by protons, deuterons, alphas and single ionized hydrogen molecules ar
e presented. The 76 ''-cyclotron of the Crocker Nuclear Laboratory of
the University of California was used to accelerate those ions in the
range of 10 to 80 MeV. The data has been compared to theoretical predi
ctions and to previous experimental work. For Z=1 the yields are consi
stent with the scaling of the stopping power with the ion mass. For Z=
2 the results agree well for energies above 40 MeV. At lower energies
the yields are lower than predicted.
