Jc. Yuan et al., Synthesis and characterization of main chain optically active copolymer ofomega-undecylenic acid with carbon monooxide, CHEM J CH U, 22(7), 2001, pp. 1152-1154
Enantioselective alternating copolymerization of carbon monoxide with omega
-undecylenic acid was carried out using cationic palladium catalyst modifi
ed by 1, 4-3, 6-dianhydro-2, 5-dideoxy-2, 5-bis (diphenylphosphino)-L-idito
l WPM. The chiral diphosphine was proved to be effective in the enantiosele
ctive copolymerization. The pure poly (1, 4-ketone) was obtained by dissolv
ing the copolymer containing spiroketal and 1, 4-ketone units in 1,1,1, 3,
3, 3-hexafluoro-2-propanol and reprecipitating with methanol. Optical rotat
ion, elemental analysis, spectra of H-1, C-13 NMR and IR showed that our co
polymer was an optically active, isotatic, alternating poly (1,4-ketone) st
ructure. The copolymerization was carried out at 45 degreesC for 20 h. Mole
cular weight: (M) over bar (n)=1.1 x 10(4) versus polystyrene, (M) over bar
(w)/(M) over bar (n)=1.84. Molar optical rotation: [a](589)(20)=+43 degree
s (CH3COOC2H5, 5.0 mg/mL). The productivity of the copolymer of omega -unde
cylenic acid with carbon monoxide was 40.6 g copolymer/(g Pd . h).
