Abstract
We have successfully prepared a layered nickel manganese oxide of LiNi1/2Mn 1/2O2 (a = 2.89 Angstrom and c = 14.30 Angstrom in hexagonal setting) and s hown that this material may be a possible alternative to LiCoO2 for advance d lithium batteries in terms of the operating voltage, rechargeable capacit y, cycleability, safety, and materials economy.
