Abstract
In this article, a vibration analysis by using of eigenfunctions is pr esented for the various beams carrying multiple masses. The analytical results were compared with those obtained experimentally. A compariso n is also made with an existing work in which the mode shape is repres ented by polynomial approximation. The comparisons verify the validity of the proposed model. A software implementation with interactive dis plays enables one to quickly predict the vibration of the loaded beam systems for a large range of mass ratios. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Lt d.
