Abstract
A simple technique for monitoring the optical frequencies of WDM signals us ing pilot tones and an arrayed-waveguide grating is presented, Results conf irm that optical frequencies of WDM signals were monitored with an accuracy better than +/-2 GHz. In addition, unlike the other pilot tone based monit oring techniques. the proposed technique was not sensitive to the cross-gai n modulation of EDFAs.
