The micromorphological study of urban soils in the southern taiga revealed
that their formation is controlled by a group of processes atypical for sod
dy-podzolic soils. In particular, urban soils are characterized by a consid
erable accumulation of detritus and raw humus, as well as by the developmen
t of gleyzation in the presence of carbonates and the formation of ferrugin
ous concretions and vivianite. Soil sealing accelerates gleyzation and affe
cts the distribution of carbonates.
