Abstract
Chorus emissions in the VLF-ELF range, measured with a magnetic antenna on board the MAGION 5 satellite near the equatorial plane at 10 degrees -30 de grees invariant latitudes in the morning sector, are analyzed in the presen t paper. It has been shown that the distribution function of the time inter vals between the occurrence of isolated elements in the chorus train at L = 3-5 has the form of the power law. Such a form of the distribution functio n points to a punctuated equilibrium regime in the collective dynamics of t he chorus generation region. Physical and mathematical models enabling us t o explain the observed dynamics in the region of low-frequency chorus gener ation have been proposed.
