Abstract
Simulated annealing algorithm is adopted to give automatic pump configurati on in laser-diode backward-pumped distributed fiber Raman amplifiers. Demon stration of the optimization process of wavelengths and powers in an optica l-fiber Raman amplifier using four laser-diode pumps is presented. The resu lted gain ripple is less than 2.6 dB in respect to 30 dB average gain in th e amplification bandwidth of more than 50 nm (64 signal channels). The algo rithm can be practically applied to desired signal channel number and gain profile.
