Ak. Rawat et al., Refinement of agro-techniques for improving the productivity of wheat (Triticum aestivum) under rice (Oryza sativa)-wheat agro-ecosystem, I J AGRON, 45(4), 2000, pp. 636-640
Performance of new plant types of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori
& Paol.) was tested with different seed rates and fertilizer doses under ri
ce (Oryza sativa L.)-wheat agro-ecosystem during winter season of 1997-98 a
nd 1998-99 in sandy-loam soils of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. 'Lok 1' outyiel
ded 'Mangla' and 'Kanchan' varieties mainly owing to superiority in effecti
ve tillers/m(2), weight of grains/ear and 1,000-grain weight. Application o
f 150 kg N + 75 kg P2O5 + 50 kg K2O/ha resulted in maximum grain and straw
yields, but a dose of 120 kg N + 60 kg P2O5 + 40 kg K2O/ha was optimum for
all the varieties. A seed rate of 125 kg/ha proved ideal for increasing gra
in and straw yields.
