An experiment conducted was during summer 1993 and 1994 at Kharagpur, to st
udy the influence of fertilizer and water on yield, water-use-efficiency an
d nutrient uptake In 'J 11' groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). Significant in
crease In pod yield was recorded at, IW: CPE ratio 0.60, with an average yi
eld of 1,903 kg/ha. Among the fertilizer treatments, the crop responded sig
nificantly at fertilizer level of 30 kg N, 60 kg P2O5 and 30 kg K2O/ha and
Increase In yield was 30% higher than lower level. Water-use efficiency was
also Increased at IW : CPE ratio of 0.60 and nutrient level of 30 kg N, 60
kg P2O5 and 30 kg K2O/ha. Uptake of NPK was higher up to 0.8 IW : CPE rati
o and fertilizer level of 30 kg N, 60 kg P2O5 and 30 kg K2O/ha.
