Effect of irrigation and fertilizer on yield, water-use efficiency and nutrient uptake of summer groundnut (Arachis hypogaea)

An experiment conducted was during summer 1993 and 1994 at Kharagpur, to st udy the influence of fertilizer and water on yield, water-use-efficiency an d nutrient uptake In 'J 11' groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). Significant in crease In pod yield was recorded at, IW: CPE ratio 0.60, with an average yi eld of 1,903 kg/ha. Among the fertilizer treatments, the crop responded sig nificantly at fertilizer level of 30 kg N, 60 kg P2O5 and 30 kg K2O/ha and Increase In yield was 30% higher than lower level. Water-use efficiency was also Increased at IW : CPE ratio of 0.60 and nutrient level of 30 kg N, 60 kg P2O5 and 30 kg K2O/ha. Uptake of NPK was higher up to 0.8 IW : CPE rati o and fertilizer level of 30 kg N, 60 kg P2O5 and 30 kg K2O/ha.
