P. Bandopadhyay et Rc. Samui, Response of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) cultivars to levels and sources of sulphur in West Bengal, I J AGRON, 45(4), 2000, pp. 761-764
An experiment was conducted during November 1991 and 1992 at Kalyani, to ev
aluate the performance of 4 cultivars ('TG 19A, 'TAG 24', 'JL 24' and 'TGS
1') in relation to sources (gypsum, pyrite, single superphosphate) and leve
ls of S (0 and 30 kg/ha). Highest yield was observed with 'TG 19A', followe
d by 'JL 24'. The yield and yield components were lower in 'TAG 24' and 'TG
S 1. Oil yields were greater with 'JL 24' and 'TGS 1', being at par with ea
ch other. Gypsum and single superphosphate sources performed better and rec
orded significantly higher yield and yield-attributing characters over pyri
tes. Sulphur-containing treatments improved all characters except haulm yie
ld.
