Abstract
Excess molar volumes, V-m(e) and viscosities, eta, were measured as a funct ion of composition for the binary mixtures of diethylene glycol dibutyl eth er + dimethyl carbonate, + diethyl carbonate, and + propylene carbonate at temperatures of 298.15, 308.15, and 318.15 K and atmospheric pressure over the whole range of mixture compositions. From the experimental results, dev iations in the viscosity, Delta ln eta, and excess free energies of activat ion of viscous flow, DeltaG(*E), were calculated. The experimental results were correlated using the Redlich-Kister equation. The experimental and cal culated quantities were used to analyze the mixing behavior of the componen ts. Furthermore, activation enthalpies, DeltaH*, and entropies, DeltaS*, of viscous flow were evaluated and their variation with concentration is disc ussed.
