The performance of a personal computer affected by microwave pulses is inve
stigated experimentally in a wide range of pulse durations and repetition f
requencies. The shortest nanosecond microwave pulses were obtained using th
e method of resonance time compression. The criteria] radiation levels caus
ing computer malfunction are analyzed as functions of the duration and repe
tition frequency of microwave pulses. It is shown that, when the pulse dura
tion is as low as a few nanoseconds, the effect of the pulses increases wit
h the repetition frequency.
