Abstract
The composition of leaf oil of Myrtus communis L., grown in Greece was inve stigated by using GC/MS analysis. Twenty-one compounds were identified. The oil was found to be rich in alpha -pinene (18.0%), limonene (21.8%), linal yl acetate (31.4%) and geranyl acetate (6.5%). Minor compounds were: alpha -humulene (3.7%), beta -caryophyllene (1.5%), neryl acetate (1.2%) and lina lool (1.1%).
