A total of 72 pigs of 15 kg liveweight were used in a random block des
ign for studying their performance on substituting 0, 60 and 80% of th
e protein sources by home made protein molasses (HPM). The HPM was pre
pared with 2% urea and a 30:70 molasses B:water proportion. Average da
ily gain was reduced and had values of 475, 301 and 277 g for 0, 60 an
d 80% substitution. Other performance indices were poorer in the anima
ls which consumed HPM, but these required lower amounts of protein sou
