M. Valdivie et al., SACCHARINA IN RATIOS FOR BROILERS WITH ZEOLITE, SUGAR AND TORULA YEAST, Cuban journal of agricultural science, 27(2), 1993, pp. 187-191
For evaluating the feeding potential of a concentrate with 10% Sacchar
ina and a high content of home production raw materials, 540 Cornish x
White Plymouth Rock chicks from 4 until 49 days of age were used in t
hree treatments: 1) control ration; 2) a ration with 10% Saccharina an
d 3) a ration with 10% Saccharina + 5% zeolite + 27 to 33% sugar + 20%
torula yeast + 5% soapstock (ICA variant). An analysis of variance ac
cording to a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 6 repl
ications was carried out. Viability was of 99, 100 and 98%. In treatme
nt 3, feaces were more liquid and feathers somewhat dirtier. Liveweigh
t at 49 days was 1542, 1607 and 1562 g/bird, Saccharina consumption of
333 and 336 g/bird in treatments 2 and 3 and in that of zeolite of 16
8 g/bird, which reduced consumption of traditional feeds. Conversion o
f traditional feeds was of 2.15; 1,93 and 1.90, being significantly hi
gher in the control treatment. These results confirm the possibility o
f using 10% Saccharina and allow to produce broilers efficiently, when
ever 10% Saccharina, 5% zeolite, 27 to 33% sugar, 20% torula yeast and
5% soapstock (67 to 73% of of home product raw materials for feeds) a
re available.
