Abstract
The authors review the literature related to competence evaluation of pract icing nurses and offer recommendations based on the findings. Data collecti on procedures included literature search from major databases. A frame of c lassification tvas constructed to assess the methodological soundness of th e instruments. The ultimate goal of this review is to help nurse administra tors locate and evaluate existing instruments to assure safe and qualified nursing care.
