Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present new acousto-optical effects in semi conductors. Here we discuss acoustically driven carrier diffusion length an d photovoltaic effect in Si and SiGe heterostructures, acoustically driven radiative recombination kinetics in ZnSe/ZnS quantum wells and acousto-phot o-reflectance from GaAs epitaxial layers. We argue that acoustic driving ca n significantly affect the carrier dynamics in bulk and low-dimensional sem iconductors.
