Abstract
This technical note provides evidence for the degradation of Tris buffer in a peptide formulation stored at elevated temperature (70 degreesC). The bu ffer degrades to liberate formaldehyde, which is shown to react with the pe ptide tyrosine residue. Those involved in peptide/protein formulation shoul d be aware of the possible instability in this common biological buffer. (C ) 2001 Wiley-Liss, Inc. and the American Pharmaceutical Association.
