Abstract
New metallacarboranes bearing a (nido-RC2B10H10)(2)(4-) ligand, [{eta (5):e ta (1):eta (6)-MeSi(C(9)H(5)CH(2)CH(2)G)-(C2B10H10)Sm}(2)(mu -Cl)][Li(THF)( 4)] (G = NMe2 (1), OME (2)), have been prepared and structurally characteri zed by treatment of SmI2(THF)(x) with 1 equiv of [Me2Si(C9H5-CH(2)CH(2)G)(C 2B10H10)]Li-2(OEt2)(2). LiCCl in THF via unexpected samarium-mediated tande m reactions.
