Toluene transformation on melted NaOH and KOH and the influence of bismuth,
calcium, phosphorus, or vanadium oxide admixtures on the toluene conversio
n were studied in the temperature range 540-720 degreesC. The highest selec
tivity for dibenzyl was achieved on the NaOH-KOH (equiv) + 10 wt % V2O5 cat
alyst in air. The scheme of toluene transformation on melted NaOH is propos
ed.
