The salient and specific features of 1,2-cyclooctanediol oxidation with hyd
rogen peroxide to suberic acid in the presence of various catalytic systems
were studied. The oxidation of 1,2-cyclooctanediol with such a mild and en
vironmentally friendly oxidizing agent as hydrogen peroxide was shown to yi
eld high-purity suberic acid containing no admixtures of dicarboxylic acids
with a smaller number of carbon atoms by carrying out the reaction in a he
terogeneous system with a hydrocarbon solvent for the diol.
