Photoemulsion experiments, which were carried out for C-12(gamma, 3 alpha)
and O-16(gamma, 4 alpha) reactions with a linearly polarized gamma beam fro
m the linear LAE-2000 accelerator at the Kharkov Institute of Physics and T
echnology, Ukrainian Scientific Center, are reviewed. The review focuses on
analyzing the distributions of alpha particles in their in-pair relative e
nergy in the final states of the reactions, in the angle of divergence, and
distributions in the excitation energy of intermediate nuclei. In addition
, the angular distributions of alpha particles and the energy dependence of
the Sigma asymmetry of alpha particles in the case of two-particle reactio
ns are also analyzed. The basic mechanism of the reactions under considerat
ion is shown to be the interaction with nuclear alpha clusters.
