Bi(OCPh3)(3) has been prepared and isolated and its structure established b
y X-ray crystallography. Bi(OCPh3)(3) has been found to have a three-coordi
nate structure, unlike its silyl analogue, due to pi interactions between t
he Lewis acidic metal and one beta -phenyl ring of each alkoxide ligand. (C
