Studies at the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy particular
ly in regard to cosmic ray detection and construction of the Muonic Cherenk
ov telescope at the University of Blagoevgrad indicate a need for the devel
opment of a theoretical model based on observed phenomena and a refinement
of this for detection system optimisation. This was introduced in the EGS4
code system. The first simulations consecrate on a number of different geom
etries of the water tank in total reflection. The model was compared with e
xperimental data involving a Co-60 gamma source and the telescope. (C) 2001
