Sb. Singh et al., MAXIKDIOL - A NOVEL DIHYDROXYISOPRIMANE AS AN AGONIST OF MAXI-K CHANNELS, Journal of the Chemical Society. Perkin transactions. I, (22), 1994, pp. 3349-3352
Maxi-K (large-conductance calcium-activated potassium) channels are a
family of proteins which are thought to play an important role in cont
rolling the contractility of airway smooth muscle. Maxikdiol is a nove
l, 1,5-dihydroxyisoprimane, diterpenoid which acts as an agonist of th
e channel. The isolation, structure elucidation and biological activit
y of maxikdiol are described.
