Abstract
Benzyl alcohol is readily oxidized by O-2 to benzaldehyde in the presence o f catalytic amounts of the Pd(561)phen(60)(OAc)(180) giant cluster. Unlike aliphatic aldehydes, benzaldehyde is resistant toward further transformatio ns in this system.
