Bis(chloromethyl)phosphinic chloride reacts with trimethylsilyl methylcarba
mate in benzene in the presence of a base to give trimethylsilyl bis(chloro
methyl)phosphinate. The same reaction performed without a solvent and in th
e absence of a base yields trimethylsilyl bis(chloromethyl)phosphinate and
bis(chloromethyl)phosphinic anhydride. Reaction of bis(chloromethyl)phosphi
nic chloride with trimethylsilyl diethylcarbamate yields N,N-diethylbis(chl
oromethyl)phosphinic amide. The reaction of bis(chloromethyl)phosphinic (-p
hosphinothioic) chlorides with trimethylsilyl N-trimethylsilylacetimidoate
was studied.
