Abstract
The crystal structure of the Bi(Ida)(HIda) complexonate formed from neutral [Bi(Hda)(Ida)](infinity) complexes, having an infinite polymeric ribbon st ructure, was determined. Each Bi atom (C.N. 8) in the polymeric ribbon is a ttached to the N atom, two carboxyl O atoms of the Ida(2-) chelating ligand , and four oxygen atoms of three bridging HIda ligands. In addition, the Bi atom forms a bridging bond with the chelating oxygen atom O(3)' of the nei ghboring complex. Two types of chelate rings were found in the structure, n amely, sixteen-membered large and eight-membered small rings. The distance between the neighboring Bi atoms in the eight-membered chelate ring is 3.98 05(4) Angstrom.
