Ab. Remizov et al., Internal rotation and association in solutions of cumyl hydroperoxide according to IR spectroscopy data, RUSS J PH C, 75(8), 2001, pp. 1250-1254
Internal rotation and association in solutions of cumyl hydroperoxide in de
cane, carbon tetrachloride, and chlorobenzene were studied by IR spectrosco
py (3100-3600 cm(-1), 20-80 degreesC). The experimental data were interpret
ed by factor analysis techniques and the decomposition of complex contours
into constituent analytic contours. The di- and trimerization constants and
the thermodynamic parameters of self-associates were determined. Solutions
of cumyl hydroperoxide in nonpolar solvents were found to contain mixtures
of the gauche-1 and gauche-2 conformers of monomeric molecules. The differ
ence of the enthalpies of these conformers was determined. Cumyl hydroperox
ide molecules were found to interact with solvents (chlorobenzene and carbo
n tetrachloride).
