The kinetics of disproportionation of diiodohalides of organic nitrogen-containing cations in iodine-coordinating solvents

The disproportionation of diiodohalides of organic nitrogen-containing cati ons in iodine-coordinating solvents was studied by electronic spectroscopy. The kinetics of disproportionation of triethylbenzylammonium diiodochlorid e and N-cetylpyridinium and tetrabutylammonium diiodobromides was determine d in the chloroform-methanol (ethanol, acetonitrile) systems. A mechanism o f mutual transformations of polyhalides was suggested, and the dependence o f the rate constants of disproportionation on the nature of the solvent was studied.
