Ai. Moshinskii, Mass crystallization of ellipsoidal particles from solutions under conditions of kinetically controlled crystal growth, RUSS J PH C, 75(8), 2001, pp. 1288-1296
Mass crystallization was described in terms of a crystal size distribution
function (CSDF). Particles in the form of ellipsoids of revolution were con
sidered. Needle-shaped and flattened (round) crystalline particles were con
sidered limiting cases. The problem was reduced to the solution of a system
of ordinary differential equations for the CSDF moments. The stationary so
lution to the system was investigated for stability, and criteria of stabil
ity were derived. It was shown that when stability is violated, oscillation
s arise in the system. The characteristics of the oscillation regime were i
llustrated by examples.
