Abstract
Adsorbed oxygen migration from noble metals to silver was investigated on b oth an Ag/Pt(110) model catalyst and Al2O3-supported Ag-Pd catalysts by pho toelectron emission microscopy (PEEM) and oxygen temperature-programmed des orption (TPD). On the CO-precovered Ag/Pt(110) surface, oxygen was observed to diffuse from the Pt(110) surface to the Ag surface by PEEM. The diffusi on of oxygen was coupled locally with a surface reaction of COad + O-ad, gi ving rise to rapid propagation of the oxygen front. Migration of oxygen fro m the Pd surface to the Ag surface was proved also by oxygen TPD experiment s on Al2O3-supported Ag-Pd catalysts. Copyright (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
