Abstract
To investigate whether Vaqta (TM) may be used as a booster in subjects prim ed with Avaxim (TM), 127 adults primed 6 months previously with Avaxim (TM) were randomised to receive either Vaqta (TM) or Avaxim (TM) as a booster. Prior to the booster all subjects were seropositive. Geometric mean antibod y titres increased from 496 to 7262 mIU/mL 1 month after receiving Vaqta (T M) as a booster and from 325 to 5131 mIU/mL I month after receiving Avaxim (TM) as a booster. Both vaccines were well tolerated, 20.3%. of subjects re ceiving Vaqta (TM) experienced a local reaction, compared to 39.7% of those receiving Avaxim (TM). Systemic reactions were reported by 15.6% of those receiving Vaqta (TM) and 14.3% of those receiving Avaxim (TM). Vaqta (TM) m ay be used as a booster in subjects primed with Avaxim (TM).
