Abstract
A new, improved procedure for the preparation of phosphonium halide on route to 3-(alkenyl)cephem derivatives is described. The approach inv olves the one-pot reaction of the 3-hydroxymethyl cephem derivative 7 with methyltriphenoxyphosphonium iodide in dichloromethane.
