Abstract
The genus Nebenothyris Minato, 1963 closely resembles the common spiri feroid genus Phricodothyris, but differs in having median ridges in bo th valves. It has seldom been mentioned in British faunas, but has bee n recognized in brachiopod collections from the Craven Reef Belt, Nort h Yorkshire. We review the occurrence of Nebenothyris and recognize a new species, N. rhachis, from B2b 'reefal' limestones of late Asbian a ge in northern England and Ireland.
