This paper analyzes the publications on uncooled thermal IR detector a
rrays, the main problems of creating the arrays, their layout and mate
rials, and the technology for fabricating microbolometric, pyroelectri
c, and thermoelectric arrays, as well as the thermal-vision devices ba
sed on them. The advantages and prospects of the wide use of uncooled
thermal arrays in the 8-14-mu m region are discussed. (C) 1997 The Opt
