This paper presents the results of studies of the possibility of using
the electrooptic (EO) effect to create stops that can be controlled w
ith an electric field. Formulas are obtained for calculating the chara
cteristics, and the main parameters are given for stops in which media
are used with the quadratic and linear EO effects. It is shown that t
hese stops can form in the field of view of an optical system an inter
ference circle whose diameter can be varied by means of an external el
