Abstract
The ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum of C-60(OH)(18) in water s howed an absorption band with lambda(max) = 215 nm and other character istic absorption bands of C-60 are not observed. The singlet-singlet a nd triplet-triplet absorption bands are not observed in the 400 - 900 nm region. It has Low reactivity with e(aq)(-) and formed an absorptio n band with lambda(max) = 580 nm. The hydroxyl radicals react with a b imolecular rate constant of 2.4 x 10(9) dm(3) mol(-1) s(-1) and showed an absorption band at 540 nm.
